Two games with big MLS playoff implications are on tap for Wednesday evening, and DraftKings has us covered with over $5K in guaranteed prizes to divvy out. There are some players in question due to injury, and roster rotation is likely with Sporting Kansas City’s recent run of games. Be sure to watch for starting lineups and pivot if necessary. As always, I will be posting starting lineups on Twitter (@DraftKicks) as they become available – usually an hour before kickoff.

Wednesday’s Contests

$2K MLS Striker – $3 entry

$1.5K MLS Equalizer – $27 entry

Steve Clark – $5,200 – Columbus Crew – No clean sheets to boast of here, however, Clark and the Crew are unbeaten in their last five games at home. With the Crew coming off a bye week, i’m banking on Clark to pickup at least 5 DraftKings points for a win against the visiting NYCFC tonight.

Tim Melia – $5,500 – Sporting Kansas City – Sporting Kansas City made an epic comeback on Saturday to beat the Vancouver Whitecaps 4-3 and keep their home unbeaten streak alive. Though he conceded three goals, Melia won for the 11th time in SKC’s last 12 home games. On top of their recent run of form, Sporting KC have won eight straight games at home vs. the visiting San Jose Earthquakes.

Others to Consider – Josh Saunders (New York City FC; $4,200), David Bingham (San Jose Earthquakes; $4,300)

Waylon Francis – $4,500 – Columbus Crew The Costa Rican isn’t shy about getting forward on the left flank. He has 5+ crosses in two of his last three outings and has connected for six assists on the season. With a big result needed for the Crew, I’m expecting Francis will be active in the attack again tonight.

Marcel De Jong – $4,300 – Sporting Kansas City – He hasn’t seen much playing time as of late, but taking Sporting’s busy schedule into account, it wouldn’t surprise me to see them shuffle their rotation tonight. Need to monitor the SKC Starting XI before locking De Jong in, but if he starts he’s an excellent play. He averages over 6 FPPG and has a nice upside thanks to his involvement in the attack. If De Jong doesn’t start, Chance Myers may be a viable pivot for just $100 more.

Angelino – $5,000 – New York City FC – Since joining NYCFC, the Manchester City product has 2 or more crosses in all but one of the six contests he’s played in. He already has a pair of assists to his name and I expect that number to increase as he continues to gel with his new team.

Others to Consider – Chance Myers (Sporting KC; $4,400), Shaun Francis (San Jose Earthquakes; $3,900), Harrison Afful (Columbus Crew; $3,300)

Benny Feilhaber – $10,000 – Sporting KC – Feilhaber has a goal and/or an assist in five consecutive games, notching 3 goals and 4 assists across that span. He’s in top form and playing some of the best soccer of his career right now. Sporting KC are competing for the Supporters Shield (regular season champion), and have several games in hand on the two teams they are chasing (LA Galaxy and Vancouver Whitecaps). Tonight’s game will go a long way in closing the gap, and I expect Feilhaber to continue to produce as he’s done all season.

Federico Higuain – $9,200 – Columbus Crew – The Argentine has one goal and two assists over his last three games. His overall production is down from recent years, but the upside remains considering he stands over nearly every Crew set piece – including penalty kicks.

Ethan Finlay – $8,800 – Columbus Crew – Despite being kept off the scoresheet in his last two games, Finlay is high on my radar for Wednesday’s two-game slate. He’s third in the league in assists and boasts an overall fantasy average of 10 DK points per game. With a game against a suspect NYCFC defense, I’m banking on Finlay to get back on the scoresheet tonight.

Others to Consider – Thomas McNamara (New York City FC; $6,600), Shea Salinas (San Jose Earthquakes; $5,800), Justin Meram (Columbus Crew; $7,500)

Kei Kamara – $11,400 – Columbus Crew – The Golden Boot frontrunner had a monster fantasy performance in his last outing, scoring twice to run his goal total up to 17 on the season. In addition to the goals, Kamara fired seven shots (three on target) and drew six fouls. He now has five goals in his last five games and is my top target on the board tonight.

David Villa – $13,100 – New York City FC – Spain’s all-time leading goal scorer bagged the game-winning goal and added an assist in New York City’s 3-1 upset of D.C. United last week. He has 5+ shots in four straight games, scoring four goals with three assists over that span. While I expect the Crew to get the job done at home tonight, they’ve allowed nine goals in their last three matches. Look for Villa to add to his 14 goals against the Crew.

Dom Dwyer – $9,300 – Sporting KC –  Dwyer has a goal in three consecutive games at Sporting Park, going for double-digit DK points along the way. Considering visiting San Jose Earthquakes have allowed 10 goals in their previous three road games, I like Dwyer’s chances to make it four straight games with a goal tonight.

Others to Consider – Krisztian Nemeth (Sporting KC; $8,400), Chris Wondolowski (San Jose Earthquakes; $9,500), Jack McInerney (Columbus Crew; $6,300)

Flex Appeal

Kwadwo Poku – $5,200 – New York City FC – Poku scored a goal and added an assist in NYCFC’s 3-1 win against D.C. United last week. With Frank Lampard’s status in question, I’m expecting Poku to get another start tucked in behind David Villa. He’s a handful for opposing defenses and has a goal and four assists in his last two starts.

Quincy Amarikwa – $7,200 – San Jose Earthquakes – Amarikwa has been a sparkplug since joining the Earthquakes six games ago. He has four goals and one assist with his new team, and has double-digit fantasy performances in five straight games. While SKC is a juggernaut at home, they did just allow three goals at home to Vancouver. Look for Quincy to continue to be a pest in the attack.
