A long weekend of MLS action culminates with a massive nationally televised triple-header on Soccer Sunday. The fun kicks off with New York Red Bulls hosting LA Galaxy (5pm EST, ESPN2), followed by Orlando City SC vs. Toronto FC (7PM EST, Fox Sports 1) and the Cascadia Cup rivalry Portland Timbers at Seattle Sounders (9:30PM EST, Fox Sports 1) to top off the night. There are a lot of big name players on the board today, so let’s look at who you should target to help you win some money on DraftKings tonight!

Today’s Contests

$1K MLS Striker – $3 entry

$1.25K MLS Equalizer – $27 entry

Goalkeeper

Stefan Frei – $5,500 – Seattle Sounders – Frei has conceded just twice in the last four matches, notching a pair of clean sheets along the way. Meanwhile, the Timbers have scored just twice on the road in 2015. In 5 previous meetings at Seattle: Sounders FC 3 wins, 8 goals … Timbers 0 wins, 2 goals … Ties 2

Luis Robles – $5,000 – New York Red Bulls – The New York net-minder has yet to allow a goal at Red Bull Arena this season. The reigning MLS Cup champions LA Galaxy have been held scoreless in their previous two road games. With star striker Robbie Keane out due to injury again, Robles makes for a solid play between the sticks today.

Others to Consider – Donovan Ricketts (Orlando City SC; $4,500), Jaime Penedo (LA Galaxy; $4,300)

Defender

Brek Shea – $5,400 – Orlando City SC – The midfielder turned left back is not shy about pushing forward into the attack. You’ll have to pay up for the US Men’s National Team midfielder, but his ability to earn both attacking and defensive fantasy points makes him worth the price tag.

Tyrone Mears – $4,500 – Seattle Sounders – Mears has filled in nicely at right back for Tottenham Hotspur transfer DeAndre Yedlin. In what looks to be a back-and-forth contest vs. Portland, Mears will be counted on to swing some balls into the box – picking up valuable crossing points along the way.

Jack Jewsbury – $4,000 – Portland Timbers – The versatile MLS veteran has spent time at both defender and midfielder this season. Recently he’s been deployed as a central defensive midfielder, which I always lean towards playing defenders playing higher up the field. Look for Jewsbury to contribute across the board in the Cascadia rivalry.

Others to Consider – Chris Duvall (New York Red Bulls; $4,000), Omar Gonzalez (LA Galaxy; $4,300), Aurelien Collin (Orlando City SC; $3,8oo)

Midfielder

Kaka – $9,300 – Orlando City SC – A visiting Toronto FC team that has conceded three goals in each of their last two games might be just what Kaka needs to have that breakout game we’re all waiting for.

Lloyd Sam – $7,000 – New York Red Bulls – Sam’s name has appeared in the box score with a goal and an assist in his last two games. His lightning-fast speed and nimble footwork will cause fits this afternoon for the Galaxy.

Lamar Neagle – $6,000 – Seattle Sounders – Neagle dropped a whopping 31 fantasy points in his last outing thanks to a two-goal performance. With fireworks expected versus the Timbers, another big line could be in order for Neagle.

Others to Consider – Darlington Nagbe (Portland Timbers; $6,000), Stefan Ishizaki (LA Galaxy; $6,800), Felipe Martins (New York Red Bulls; $5,000)

Forwards

Clint Dempsey ($9,700) and Obafemi Martins ($10,100) – Seattle Sounders – All eyes will be on the scariest attacking duo in MLS, Dempsey and Martins. Both are amongst the league leaders in both goals and assists, and if/when Seattle scores it is highly likely one of them will have a hand in the goal. Don’t be caught without one or both of these guys tonight.

Sebastian Giovinco – $8,900 – Toronto FC – Giovinco has produced an eye-popping 37 and 24 DraftKings points over the last two games. He is as consistent as they come and should be able to push the 10-point threshold even if he doesn’t score a goal or have an assist.

Bradley Wright-Phillips – $10,200 – New York Red Bulls -The reigning Golden Boot winner is contributing more than just goals in 2015. Wright-Phillips now has three assists and has already surpassed last season’s total of two. With a marquee home match with LA Galaxy this Sunday, the Red Bulls should look to BWP early and often.

Others to Consider – Fanendo Adi (Portland Timbers; $8,500), Jozy Altidore (Toronto FC; $7,300), Alan Gordon (LA Galaxy; $5,900), Gyasi Zardes (LA Galaxy; $7,500)

Flex Appeal

Kevin Molino – $5,600 – Orlando City SC –  Molino has looked sharp in his last three. While he’s yet to tally a goal, he’s connecting well with Kaka and looks primed for a breakout performance.

Marco Pappa – $5,000 – Seattle Sounders – Pappa has as much upside as any of the Sounders attackers. However, I expect him to be under-owned due to the appeal of Neagle, Dempsey and Martins. Pappa could make for a sneaky flex play if you want to differentiate yourself from the pack.

As always, I will be posting starting lineups on Twitter as they become available (usually an hour before the match kicks off). Follow me @FantasySoccerFC to be sure your players are starting.
