Major League Soccer returns to DraftKings for two Knockout Round matchups that surely will entertain. Also be sure to check out the updates that have been made to the soccer contests on DraftKings including a new stat provider, expanded rosters, and a new scoring system that will alter the way you draft your lineups. As we look at today’s MLS Game Breakdown I will be analyzing some injury concerns and look for potential breakout players. Toronto FC @ Montreal Impact
In a very familiar matchup, the two Canadian teams will face off in the Knockout Round of the Eastern Conference playoffs. Just last weekend Montreal, behind a brace from Didier Drogba, rolled past Toronto FC by a score of 2-1. Drogba did pick up an injury scare late in that game, but he looks to be fine and will be ready to go on Thursday. As for Toronto FC, they will once again rely on the league MVP, Sebastian Giovinco, to carry them even further into the season. Both teams will likely have similar lineups to what they had over the weekend. This game should be very similar to before, but expect Toronto FC to place a larger emphasis on stopping Didier Drogba in front of goal after he burned them for two goals over the weekend.
Line: (Pick) O/U: 2 ½ (o: -130, u: Even)
Players to Watch
- Sebastian Giovinco, Toronto FC ($9,900)
- Michael Bradley, Toronto FC ($5,600)
- Ignacio Piatti, Montreal Impact ($5,800)
- Didier Drogba, Montreal Impact ($8,000)
Sporting KC @ Portland Timbers
The Portland Timbers picked up a very convincing 4-1 win on Decision Day against Colorado and will hope to carry that momentum into the MLS Cup Playoffs on Thursday. Darlington Nagbe, the soon to be United States National, scored a brace and picked up an assist in route to a victory. This is the perfect time for Nagbe to start heating up has he has been absent from the score sheet for much of the season. As for Sporting KC, they also picked up a solid win on Decision Day as they beat the LA Galaxy 2-1 on Sunday. Both Ike Opara and Roger Espinoza are still questionable with injuries, but neither will see the field unless Sporting KC can win at least two games in the playoffs. Expect this game to be very competitive, but Portland at home are a tough team to beat and it will be hard to pick against them on Thursday.
Line: Portland Timbers (-1) O/U: 3 (o: -105, u: -125)
Players to Watch
- Benny Feilhaber, Sporting KC ($6,700)
- Dom Dwyer, Sporting KC ($7,000)
- Darlington Nagbe, Portland Timbers ($4,800)
- Fanendo Adi, Portland Timbers ($6,900)
