We have some midweek MLS action for you this week, as we look at games on both Tuesday and Wednesday. Our MLS Game Breakdown will look at two great matchups and analyze some injury concerns and potential breakout players for this upcoming slate of games.
San Jose Earthquakes @ Houston Dynamo
The Earthquakes will travel to Houston this week to take on a Dynamo team who has given up 8 goals in the last two games. Based on the last two weeks, I would expect Chris Wondolowski to get on the board with at least one goal for the Earthquakes. As for Houston, luckily for them, Giles Barnes has been at the top of his game lately with five goals on the season. Houston could also have midfielder Boniek Garcia back this week from his knee injury. This should be a very entertaining game with both teams looking to move out of the middle of the pack in the Western Conference.
Line: Houston Dynamo (-1/2) O/U: 2 1/2 (o: +115, u: -150)
Players to Watch
- Chris Wondolowki, San Jose Earthquake ($10,300)
- Clarence Goodson, San Jose Earthquake ($4,100)
- Giles Barnes, Houston Dynamo ($9,300)
- Boniek Garcia, Houston Dynamo ($5,200)
LA Galaxy @ Real Salt Lake
In Wednesday’s matchup, the LA Galaxy will travel to Utah to take on Real Salt Lake who are winless in their last four games. The Galaxy continue to play without Robbie Keane and Jose Villarreal, but youngsters Bradford Jamison IV and Gyasi Zardes have picked up the slack. Their defense has also been spectacular, as they have only given up three goals in their last four games. That doesn’t bode well for a Real Salt Lake team that has only scored seven goals so far this season. Also, make sure you check on Javier Morales and Nick Rimando when the lineups are set to make sure their injuries don’t keep them out this week.
Line: (Pick) O/U: 2 1/2 (o: +120, u: -155)
Players to Watch
- Kyle Beckerman, Real Salt Lake ($5,600)
- Alvaro Saborio, Real Salt Lake ($7,100)
- Omar Gonzalez, LA Galaxy ($4,800)
- Jaime Penedo, LA Galaxy ($4,300)
