Last night we saw FC Dallas fall flat on their face (literally) as Sporting KC scored four goals to earn the win. Let’s hope today provides us with a little more competitive games, but keep the goals coming. With seven games tonight, we will have a variety of different options from all over the MLS to fill our fantasy lineups. Today in the MLS Game Breakdown, we will analyze some injury concerns and potential breakout players for all seven of the games. San Jose Earthquakes @ Toronto FC
Game Analysis
In Toronto’s first full game without Jozy Altidore, their other star took over the game as expected. Sebastian Giovinco scored a stunning goal in the opening minutes of the game last week and Portland was just never able to respond. As long as Giovinco, Bradley and company stay healthy Toronto should continue to be competitive. As for San Jose, they are another one of those hot teams who have earned a point in each of their last five games. Chris Wondolowski scored his 100th MLS goal last week and I highly doubt it will be his last. Toronto can be very shaky at the back and expect San Jose’s attack to capitalize on that.
Line: Toronto FC (-1/2) O/U: 2 1/2 (o:+115 , u:-150)

Players to Watch
* Giovinco, Toronto FC ($10,400)
* Luke Moore, Toronto FC ($3,900)
* Chris Wondolowski, San Jose Earthquakes ($10,200)
* Shea Sailinas, San Jose Earthquakes ($)

Real Salt Lake @ Vancouver Whitecaps
Game Analysis
Vancouver will look to end their two game losing streak this week as they return home against Real Salt Lake. They will have a tough task though as they come up against a RSL team that is finally getting healthy. Last week both Javier Morales and Joao Plata appeared as late substitutes as they inch closer to full strength. Even though they were able to pull off the win last week, they did lose their defensive leader Jamison Olave once again to a red card. Expect Vancouver to take full advantage of his absence, especially Octavio Rivero.
Line: Vancouver Whitecaps (-1) O/U: 2 1/2 (o:+120 , u:-155 )

Players to Watch
* Javier Morales, Real Salt Lake ($7,800)
* Luke Mulholland, Real Salt Lake ($5,700)
* Octavio Rivero, Vancouver Whitecaps ($9,100)
* Pedro Morales, Vancouver Whitecaps ($8,200)

Houston Dynamo @ New York City FC
Game Analysis
I doubt that New York City FC expected this start to their MLS campaign when they became an expansion team this season. After only earning one point in their last six matches, they have dropped to last place in the Eastern Conference. Their success depends heavily on the play of David Villa and Mix Diskerud, but neither have played to their full potential so far. Injuries also have played a big role in their struggles, as they have eight players on the injury list including two defensive starters from last week. Houston are dealing with their own injury concerns as Brad Davis and David Horst may potentially miss the game as well. With that being said, I expect Houston’s attack of Will Bruin and Giles Barnes to feast on the makeshift backline New York City FC will be starting.
Line: (Pick) O/U: 2 1/2 (o:+120 , u:-155 )

Players to Watch
* David Villa, New York City FC ($9,800)
* Mehdi Ballouchy, New York City FC ($6,500)
* Giles Barnes, Houston Dynamo ($9,400)
* Boniek Garcia, Houston Dynamo ($5,700)

Philadelphia Union @ DC United
Game Analysis
Two weeks ago these teams faced off and the results were very surprising. Philadelphia pulled off the upset over DC United, but that task will be much harder this week away from home. Both teams are dealing with plenty of injury concerns including the expected absences of Fabian Espindola, Michael Farfan, and Raymon Gaddis. Chris Rolfe and other expected DC United starters should be back in the lineup tonight after getting some much need rest midweek. Expect another low scoring affair and don’t be surprised if Philadelphia wins again, as they have now have won two straight games to move right into the thick of the playoff race in the Eastern Conference.
Line: DC United (-1/2) O/U: 2 1/2 (o:+110 , u:-140 )

Players to Watch
* Brian Sylvestre, Philadelphia Union ($3,600)
* Cristian Maidana, Philadelphia Union ($6,900)
* Chris Rolfe, DC United ($8,300)
* Bill Hamid, DC United ($5,300)

Columbus Crew @ Orlando City SC
Game Analysis
This important Eastern Conference matchup includes two teams who have shown to be inconsistent all year long. Orlando City started slow out of the gates, but with the likes of Kaka leading the charge, youngers players such as Cyle Larin and Brek Shea have developed into strong contributors. Unfortunately they will be without Brek Shea this week as he is suspended for his studs up tackle that earned him a red card last weekend. The Crew may be without Ethan Finlay who is questionable with a broken toe, but as long as Kei Kamara is leading the attack, goals are bound to be scored. This should be a very entertaining game between two teams that aren’t shy when it comes to scoring goals.
Line: (Pick) O/U: 2 1/2 (o:-115 , u:-115 )

Players to Watch
* Kei Kamara, Columbus Crew ($10,600)
* Federico Higuain, Columbus Crew ($9,100)
* Kaka, Orlando City SC ($11,700)
* Cyle Larin, Orlando City SC ($7,000)

Montreal Impact @ Chicago Fire
Game Analysis
Since returning from their run in the CONCACAF Champions League, Montreal has reeled off two straight wins against very quality opponents. With Dominic Oduro still out, expect Jack McInerney to get the start once again up top for Montreal. Their star Ignacio Piatti also continues to dominate with a goal and the assist on McInerney’s winning goal last week. Chicago on the other hand has now drawn two straight matches after Jason Johnson scored a dramatic winner late in stoppage time last week. Other news to watch in the coming weeks for Chicago Fire fans is that Mike Magee was sent on loan to start his recovery from his hip surgery. It’s only a matter of time before he is back in a Fire uniform and scoring goals like he has since he joined the MLS.
Line: Chicago Fire (-1/2) O/U: 2 1/2 (o:-120 , u:-115 )

Players to Watch
* Ignacio Piatti, Montreal Impact ($7,900)
* Jack McInerney, Montreal Impact ($6,800)
* David Accam, Chicago Fire ($6,500)
* Jeff Larentowicz, Chicago Fire ($5,500)

Portland Timbers @ Colorado Rapids
Game Analysis
With both teams playing on short rest after their midweek games, expect some more shuffling of starting lineups similar to Wednesday’s action. Portland earned a huge win midweek as they saw the return of Will Johnson to the starting lineup. Unfortunately it looks like they will be without Diego Valeri once again, as well as Diego Chara who is suspended due to yellow card accumulation. Colorado was unable to pick up a point midweek against Seattle, but will look to bounce as they return home. The two bottom feeders in the Western Conference are both ready to pull themselves out of the depths of the table, so expect them both to push hard for the win, opening up plenty of chances on the counter attack.
Line: (Pick) O/U: 2 1/2 (o:+120 , u:-155 )

Players to Watch
* Will Johnson, Portland Timbers ($3,000)
* Dairon Asprilla, Portland Timbers ($5,500)
* Gabriel Torres, Colorado Rapids ($7,300)
* Dillon Powers, Colorado Rapids ($8,000)
