I hope you all have a great weekend and good luck as you set your daily fantasy lineups. We finally have a two game slate on Friday night and the contests on Draftkings will not carry over to the Saturday slate of games. As we look at today’s MLS Game Breakdown I will be analyzing some injury concerns, point out some key missing players, and look for potential breakout players for both games. Also follow me on Twitter (@jwl_15) for injury and lineup updates throughout the day.

Today’s Contests

$300 Derby – $9 entry fee

$1.25K Equalizer – $27 entry fee

Chicago Fire @ Houston Dynamo

Game Analysis

The Houston Dynamo come into this game at home in desperate need for a win. Luckily they are going up against the Chicago Fire, who are on a four game losing streak and are the worst team in the MLS. The Dynamo will see the probable return of their captain Brad Davis, but will be missing Boniak Garcia, Giles Barnes, and Jermaine Taylor due to the Gold Cup. As for Chicago, they will be missing Shaun Maloney, David Accam, and Patrick Nyarko with injuries. Fortunately for Chicago, Mike Magee is closer to returning from his long-term injury after he scored two goals midweek in the US Open Cup. I expect Houston to dominate this game against a weaker opponent, especially at home in front of their fans.

Line: Houston Dynamo (-1/2) O/U: 2 1/2 (o:-110 , u:-120)

Players to Watch

  • Jeff Larentowicz, Chicago Fire ($5,000)
  • Harry Shipp, Chicago Fire ($7,500)
  • Brad Davis, Houston Dynamo ($8,800)
  • Will Bruin, Houston Dynamo ($7,500)

DC United @ Seattle Sounders

Game Analysis

Despite losing three straight games, Seattle are still looking pretty in the Western Conference standings. They dropped to second place but are only three points behind Vancouver for the top spot. Clint Dempsey’s suspension is over, but he and Brad Evans are going to be on international duty for the USMNT. Also, Obafemi Martins and Osvaldo Alonso will still be out, so the Sounders will once again rely heavily on the play of Lamar Neagle. DC United will be without Chris Pontius and Sean Franklin once again, but will still be putting a very strong lineup out there including Fabian Espindola and Chris Rolfe in attack. Expect both teams to push for a win as they try to prove that they are the best in the MLS.

Line: Seattle Sounders (-1/2) O/U: 2 1/2 (o:+105 , u:-135)

Players to Watch

  • Tyrone Mears, Seattle Sounders ($5,600)
  • Lamar Neagle, Seattle Sounders ($6,600)
  • Fabian Espindola, DC United ($8,100)
  • Chris Rolfe, DC United ($7,700)
