Another small midweek MLS slate on DraftKings offers two very interesting matchups. The surging Red Bulls face off against the last play Fire, then the Houston Dynamo travel to last play Colorado in desperate need of a win. As we look at today’s MLS Game Breakdown I will be analyzing some injury concerns and look for potential breakout players. Also follow me on Twitter (@jwl_15) for injury and lineup updates throughout the day.
New York Red Bulls @ Chicago Fire
The New York Red Bulls are red hot and will travel to Chicago to face the last place Fire. Chicago have only one point from their last three matches and lost one of the DP’s, Shaun Maloney, to a transfer. They continue to also be without both David Accam and Gilberto moving forward as both have been battling injuries for weeks now. I expect the Red Bulls to win this game pretty easily with the form they are currently in. Four defenders will all be out on Wednesday including Damien Perrinelle with a suspension and Chris Duvall, Kemar Lawrence, and Ronald Zubar with injuries. I expect the Red Bulls to mix up their starting eleven midweek with another game this Sunday afternoon. Could this be the game that Shaun Wright-Phillips finally gets his first MLS start alongside his brother?
Line: (Pick) O/U: 3 (o: -110, u: -140)
Players to Watch
Bradley Wright-Phillips, New York Red Bulls ($11,800)
Sacha Kljestan, New York Red Bulls ($8,200)
Sean Johnson, Chicago Fire ($4,400)
Kennedy Igboananike, Chicago Fire ($6,600)
Houston Dynamo @ Colorado Rapids
The Dynamo travel to Colorado hoping to end their road woes this season. They face a Rapids team that are still in last place in the Western Conference, but a win last weekend moved them even closer to catching the Dynamo and others in the bottom half of the West. Luis Solignac will still be out with an injury and James Riley picked up a knock and will be questionable for Wednesday night. As for Houston, they desperately need a win to get back in the playoff race. They will be without Jermaine Taylor once again, and Ricardo Clark, DaMarcus Beasley, and Raul Rodriguez are all questionable to start. It looks like Giles Barnes, who picked up a slight injury last weekend, should be ready to start once again for the Dynamo. The Dynamo must pull off this difficult away win if they want a chance at making the playoffs this season.
