Hello! Another weekend, another slate of DFS soccer. If you haven’t already seen the big Boxing Day tournament on DraftKings, i’d urge you to check it out. This weekend may be one you want to play a few qualifiers to try and get some tickets to that tournament. Being from the UK I can tell you, Boxing Day soccer is a huge thing over there, kind of like Thanksgiving day NFL here. So i’d urge everyone to try and be a part of it, get yourselves an entry or two into the big GPP for a chance at a big pay day from DFS soccer.
That said, its time to focus on this weekends action. 7 games all starting at 10am ET so no late games to worry about. As usual i’ll go position by position.
Lukasz Fabianski $4,000 – Price considered he may well be my top overall keeper on the week. Hull are in a massive offensive slump scoring just two in their last eight games. Fabianski returns after a 1 match ban to a Swansea side in great form offensively. I think they will have too much for Hull and he should be safe for a win. Even if he doesn’t get a clean sheet I can’t see Fabianski conceding more than once which, at his price, means I feel safe locking him in in all formats.
David De Gea $5,600 – I list him behind Fabianski because price considered I think i’d lean the Swansea keeper. However, De Gea is in amazing form right now, exemplified by the 26 points he scored on DraftKings in the win over Liverpool. He should be safe enough on the road at Aston Villa with Man Utd seemingly having turned a corner and slowly getting players healthy again, this may be a case where paying up to be contrarian with either him or Lloris is worth it.
Others I like: Hugo Lloris $5,600, Adrian $5,300, Robert Green $4,100.
Aaron Cresswell $4,900 – I think this game at home to Leicester sets up perfectly for Cresswell. West Ham are right in form and have their strikers healthy again. Cresswell loves to push on down the wing and with guys like Andy Carroll and Diafra Sakho in the middle there is always a chance of an assist from on of the big men getting on the end of a Cresswell cross. I really like the potential for a clean sheet for West Ham this week too which only adds to the upside.
Kyle Walker $4,200 – I am a big fan of Walker as a player. He has been hurt and finally returned to action last weekend making his first appearance of the season. Walker should solidify his place as the regular right back for Tottenham going forward (barring any injury setbacks) and really adds another dimension to their play. He has a great opportunity of a clean sheet this week but also offers the upside of being an attacking fullback. I expect his price to rise in coming weeks so feel comfortable taking advantage of this discount, it won’t be around forever.
Others I like: Leighton Baines $5,300, Carl Jenkinson $4,700, Ryan Bertrand $4,300 and Ben Davies $3,700.
Stewart Downing $7,900 – Never in my wildest dreams did I think i’d be writing this guy up so much this season but i’ve been very impressed with his play and the numbers don’t lie. Averaging 12ppg on the season and scoring double digits in 5 of his last 6, Downing is a man in great form. The fact that West Ham have their strikers back and firing just adds so much to his potential upside I love him again this weekend in a great matchup.
Gylfi Sigurdsson $7,600 – He has seen his form dip a bit recently but I think this is the prime spot for him to bounce back this weekend. I really like Swansea on the road at Hull to score around three goals and the role he plays in the team, he is bound to be at the heart of anything good. A few people may be put off by his recent dip but he is easily one of my favourite midfield plays on the day at a modest price. Did I mention he also has a habit of linking up well with a rather potent forward?…
Others I like: Juan Mata $7,900, Riyad Mahrez $5,300, Aiden McGeady $4,500 and Mauricio Isla $4,400.
Robin Van Persie $10,600 – He has scored 20+ points in 3 of his last four games. I’m no expert but I believe that is good. He gets a road matchup this week with Aston Villa which does not put me off at all. Man Utd are playing much better offensively and its no surprise that its coincided with his uptick in form. RVP is probably my favourite ‘pay up’ option this week.
Wilfried Bony $9,700 – I had to add him in here. I love the combination of Bony and Sigurdsson in a GPP. The two link up very well. I wouldn’t even mind pairing Bony with one of the wingers, whoever starts, as all three are nicely priced. 16 is the lowest scoring game Bony has had in his last 5 games, this is a great game for him to really assert himself and I have no issue taking him over RVP at the slight discount if I can only have one.
Others I like: Romelu Lukaku $8,800, Diafra Sakho $8,600, Charlie Austin $8,400, Andy Carroll $8,300 and Steven Naismith $5,900.
Thats it for another week. Feel free to follow me on twitter @cjhopkins07, i’ll be tweeting out the lineups on Saturday morning and if you have any questions that is the quickest way to reach me. Best of luck in all of your games.
