This weekend’s Bundesliga action begins early with a Friday night derby between Hertha and Union Berlin. Here’s the lowdown for Friday’s soccer Showdown:

Cunha has scored in each of his last three games he has started in the Bundesliga. All of those goals have come after the completion of two-thirds of the game. That strong form bodes well for his choice as Captain despite him averaging just 7.7 DKFP. As this season progresses, that fantasy average will just increase.
Other to consider: Vedad Ibisevic ($9,600)
High-priced flex options
Marvin Plattenhardt ($10,200)
Hertha Berlin’s defense has stuttered and stumbled right through this season. They have conceded 48 goals so far, highest in the top 13 in the Bundesliga. Five of those came in a 5-0 loss to Koln. They kept a clean sheet in a 3-0 win over Hoffenheim over the weekend, though. Also, with teams easing themselves back in, a defender from each team could be a wise strategy.
Marius Bulter ($8,600)
Union Berlin chose a 3-4-2-1 formation to counter Bayern Munich’s attacking instinct in their previous game. It worked partially in that they conceded just two but they also failed to score. Marius Butler was forced into a more defensive role, which hasn’t been his strength this season. He has scored seven goals already. Union Berlin will probably push him into a more attacking role against Hertha.
Dodi Lukebakio ($7,800)
Lukebakio, the Belgian midfielder, has proved his worth to this Hertha Berlin team, not just from a contribution standpoint but also by adding utility with his accuracy. Playing primarily as an attacking midfielder on the right flank, he has already chipped in with five goals and five assists during this Bundesliga season.
Others to consider: Rune Jarstein ($7,200)
Value flex options
Vedad Ibisevic ($6,400)
Vedad Ibisevic is a bit underrated in this slate. Yes, he has scored just four goals so far along with one assist. One of those goals came in Hertha’s 3-0 win over the weekend. He played that game as the solitary striker with Cunha slotting in behind him. In fantasy soccer, strikers are hot properties due to their proximity to the goal. To draft an out-and-out striker for $6,400 is a shrewd move.
Rafal Gikiewicz ($5,600)
Union Berlin hasn’t kept a clean sheet in their last five games. That also means they’re probably due one considering they have conceded 43 goals this season, not too bad for an 11th-placed team. This might be a risky choice if goals are scored but if they aren’t, then picking Gikiewicz will pay rich dividends.
Other to consider: Marcus Ingvartsen ($5,000)
