An absolutely terrifying scene occurred this weekend at a high school football game in San Antonio, Texas when a couple defensive backs from John Jay High School targeted the back judge, after what the defensive backs believed to be ‘horrible’ calls.

You’ll notice that the first defensive player crushes the referee from behind/where he’s not looking, and after he falls to the ground: another DB comes in with a vicious cheap shot leading with his helmet.

Both players were immediately ejected (in addition to two players that were ejected the play before this for similar behavior not involving the officials). Following the game: Marble Falls’ Matt Green, the opposing head coach,  told the Express-News “I’ve coached 14 years and I’ve never seen anything like it…”

No matter how bad a referee’s performance is, there’s no room for that in the game. Ever. Let’s hope the refs have no serious/long-term injuries.
