With Day 1 of Round 1 in the books, all I have to say is wow did some guys come to play and some guys forgot their games at the airport.  My brackets are nearly busted as a couple of my upset picks flamed out and a couple of teams that I had going some places, disappeared as well.  Today is a new day for us so let’s take a look at who we should be considering and, as always, hit me up on Twitter (@Razzle11Grinds) with any questions you might have!

Gary Payton II – Oregon St vs VCU – $10,100 – Payton is coming off of a 52 fantasy point performance against a very tough Cal team and now takes on an up-tempo VCU team.  Payton is strong enough and experienced enough to handle the pressure of VCU and is excellent in the open court.  He offers us a 60 fantasy point upside in this game.

Melo Trimble – Maryland vs South Dakota St – $8,000 – Trimble has approached 40 fantasy points a few times over the last two weeks and I think he could get there in this one against South Dakota St.  SDSU can be attacked by guards getting into the paint as they give up a large % of their points from 2 point range as well as at the FT line and that is something that Trimble excels at.

Jalen Jones – Texas A&M vs UW-Green Bay – $7,500 – I think both Jones and House are going to find their ways in to my lineups as Texas A&M gets a HUGE tempo boost in this game as UWGB loves to play fast and run in the open court.  Jones is coming off of a solid 31 fantasy point performance and while that wouldn’t kill us at his current price, I am really thinking he should approach 40+.

Troy Caupain – Cincinnati vs St Josephs – $7,200 – The best way to attack the up-tempo St Joseph’s squad is via guard play and Caupain is coming off of a monster performance in the AAC tournament against UCONN.  I really love Caupain in this one and will find a way to add him to my Texas A&M stacks.

Other Options – Thomas Walkup ($8,800), Jordan Fouse ($8,700), Demetrius Jackson ($7,700), Quenton DeCosey ($7,600), Trevon Bluiett ($7,600), Danuel House ($7,400), Aaron Valdes ($7,400), Alex Caruso ($6,900), Scoochie Smith ($6,700), Myles Davis ($6,400), JaQuan Lewis ($6,400)

Steven Thompson Jr. – Oregon St vs VCU – $5,700 – This is a nice pace up game for Oregon St and Thompson has really stepped up for the Beavers, in place of Tinkle.  He has shown us 40+ fantasy point upside and I think he offers us a 30-35 fantasy point performance in this game.  I would expect him to get to the FT line more than the 1 time that he managed the last time out and is extremely safe for 20+ fantasy points.

Jabari Bird – California vs Hawaii – $5,200 – Bird is going to need to step up and fill in for Wallace as we presume that he is out for the tournament with yet another broken hand.  Bird put up some pretty ridiculous performances without Wallace earlier this season and he could be in line for another one here as Hawaii is a tempo-up opponent for the Bears.

Demetrius Floyd – Stephen F Austin vs West Virginia – $4,900 – Floyd offers us a 40 fantasy point upside in a very up-tempo game as he is willing to fire up a ton of shots.  The issue is the floor he offers us is extremely low.  I have been a SFA fan for a couple of years now and would love to see them pull the upset in this one and its actually an upset that I can see happening.

Sam Singer – California vs Hawaii – $3,600 – Singer is going to be extremely popular as the replacement for Wallace in an up-tempo game.  Singer filled in pretty well the first time Wallace was out this season and while he is not much of an offensive threat, I find it almost impossible to ignore him at this price point.

Other Options – Ty Charles ($5,400), Dylan Smith ($5,200), Khalil Small ($5,000), Kyle Davis ($4,800), Aaron Brown ($4,600), Brent Wrapp ($4,500), Jaqawn Raymond ($4,300), Cameron Johnson ($3,800), Lamarr Kimble ($3,800), McKay Cannon ($3,600)

Jarrod Uthoff – Iowa vs Temple – $9,200 – I love Uthoff in this spot as he should be able to own Obi on both ends of the court.  If Iowa wants to make any kind of noise in this tournament they are going to need Uthoff to put up 45+ fantasy point performances each time they take the court.  I think Uthoff is one of the best bets to go for 40-50 today.

Zach Auguste – Notre Dame vs Michigan – $8,500 – Auguste should absolutely dominate a Michigan interior that has been destroyed recently.  Auguste has been playing extremely well for most of the last month and should be able to get us a 20 and 12 type double-double in this one.  I expect Auguste and Colson to do most of the offensive work for the Irish.

Robert Carter – Maryland vs South Dakota St – $7,600 – Carter is coming off of a 36 fantasy point performance and gets a match-up that should allow him to dominate as he should have a guy who is a few inches shorter than him, on him for most of the game.  He has the inside-outside type of game that should give the small school, SDSU, troubles.

Dyshawn Pierre – Dayton vs Syracuse – $7,200 – Can’t leave out a big man taking on Syracuse as they get absolutely destroyed on the glass and Pierre could end up with a 20 and 15 type of game here as he is much more athletic than the interior of Syracuse and he should end up with 5+ offensive boards in this game.  He should be able to avoid any kind of foul trouble as Syracuse lacks a traditional, pound it inside type of offense.

Other Options – Isaiah Miles ($8,600), Chris Boucher ($7,900), Gary Clark ($7,500), Stefan Jankovic ($7,200), Mike Daum ($7,100), Kris Jenkins ($6,700), Jaylen Bond ($6,600), Tyler Davis ($6,600), Clide Geffrard ($6,300), Malachi Alexander ($6,300)

Mo Alie-Cox – VCU vs Oregon St – $5,700 – I love that we get a price drop here after MAC ended up burning a lot of people his last time out.  I am going right back to him as this match-up is much nicer from a fantasy perspective as Oregon St lacks any kind of big man that can cause problems for MAC.  I think this game is sneaky in terms of fantasy points and I will definitely have MAC in a large amount of lineups.

Vitto Brown – Wisconsin vs Pittsburgh – $5,100 – Brown is coming off of a 32 fantasy point performance and always seems to be a sneaky option for the Badgers as he just is not sexy in any way, shape or form.  I generally would fade a game like this in the tournament as it is expected to be very low scoring, however Brown offers some cash game safety with a solid enough upside for our GPP’s.

Jaylin Airington – CS Bakersfield vs Oklahoma – $5,100 – Airington has gone for 24+ fantasy points in seven of his last ten games and while I have Oklahoma going a ways in this tournament, I think this game plays closer than the average fan would think.  I love this price and he will be in a lot of my lineups as he allows you to open up so much when he is paired with Singer.

Other Options – Sam Hughes ($5,400), Kyndahl Hill ($4,800), Mike Thomas ($4,500), Jamar Hurdle ($4,100), Cameron Ridley ($3,000)
