Overview

DraftKings Reignmakers allows players to build a collection of gamified digital player cards through pack drops, auctions, and secondary marketplace, officially licensed by the NFLPA, allowing participants to draft those cards in fantasy contests throughout the year.

Each player card represents an athlete and scores points based on the player’s statistical performance in a given event or game.

Weekly in the football season, there is a large variety of fantasy contests posted in the Reignmakers lobby that cater to participants with both large and small Reignmakers’ player card collections.

2023 Collection Guaranteed Prize Pool Contests

2023 Collection contests will be run across multiple game types: Classic, Deep Roster and Showdown. DraftKings will also offer CORE through REIGNMAKER tier contests for each game variation. Here is the table that outlines how the 2023 collection cash prizing is broken down by rarity tier for each week of the 2023 season:

Contest Types

Classic Contests

Classic contests are multi-game slates where participants can complete their lineup from a number of different football games. The roster format for classic contests requires you fill 5 positions:

roster-classic4.png

Showdown Contests

Showdown is a single-game contest where the rosters will have a CAPTAIN position, which gets a 1.5X fantasy score multiplier, and FLEX positions. FLEX means players from all positions are eligible for that slot.

For Reignmakers football, Showdown slates will typically be available for all primetime games each week (TNF, SNF & MNF).

Note: Captain is also a "FLEX" position.

roster-sd1.png

Deep Roster Contests

Deep roster contests include expanded roster sizes, allowing you to play a larger number of players. Deep roster contests require you fill 9 slots.

Paid Contests

How do I enter Paid Contest?

You can enter paid contests from the DraftKings Reignmakers Contest Lobby. The entry fee for each paid contest will be displayed in green under “Requirements”.

Draft your lineup by selecting from your owned cards and click Submit.

Once selecting Submit, you’ll be given the option to select how you would like to pay for your contest entry.

  • If you have a Ticket that can be used to pay for the Contest selected, you will be prompted to apply the Ticket for your Entry Fee.
  • If you have enough Crowns to pay the Entry Fee you’ll see the option to pay with Crowns. If you don’t have enough Crowns to pay the Entry Fee you will only see your account balance as an available selection.

Will I receive a refund for my Paid Reignmakers Entry if I withdraw from the Contest?

Yes. If you withdraw a Paid Entry for Reignmakers you will be refunded in the form of currency you used to enter the Contest.

Can I enter Paid Contests using Bulk Entry?

Yes! Our Bulk Upload templates will include the Entry Fee for Paid Contests. Create your template and we’ll calculate the total Entry Fees for your Bulk Entry submission when you upload your CSV. Learn more about Bulk Entry.

After confirming submission of your Bulk Entry, we will submit your qualifying entries. Any entries that don’t qualify for the Contests entered will not be submitted. You will only pay for the entries that we successfully submit and the Bulk Entry summary screen will display the total amount of entry fees you were charged. Please note, that at this time Crowns cannot be used to pay for bulk entries to DraftKings Reignmakers Paid Contests.

Contest Rarity Tiers

Contest rarity is the gating mechanism that creates value for holding scarcer digital player cards in your collection. There can be contests at the 5 rarity tiers outlined above and each tier typically has a consistent baseline of card requirements for entry:

Note: Cards are eligible to be played at the shown rarity tier or lower. For example, a legendary tier card can be used as a core, rare, elite or legendary card in fantasy contests.

Tiers for Classic Format Contests:

  • CORE - Can draft cards from any rarity tier
  • RARE - Must draft at least four rare tier cards or better + one core tier card or better
  • ELITE - Must draft at least four elite tier cards or better + one rare tier card or better
  • LEGENDARY - Must draft at least two legendary tier cards or better + three elite tier cards or better
  • REIGNMAKER - Must draft at least two Reignmaker tier cards or better + three legendary tier cards or better

Tiers for Showdown Format Contests:

  • CORE - Four cards from any rarity tier
  • RARE - Must draft at least three rare tier cards or better + one core tier card or better
  • ELITE - Must draft at least three elite tier cards or better + one rare tier card or better
  • LEGENDARY - Must draft at least two legendary tier cards or better + two elite tier cards or better
  • REIGNMAKER - Must draft at least one Reignmaker tier cards or better + three legendary tier cards or better

Tiers for Deep Roster Format Contests:

  • CORE - Nine cards from any rarity tier
  • RARE - Must draft at least eight rare tier cards or better + one core tier card or better
  • ELITE - Must draft at least six elite tier cards or better + three rare tier cards or better
  • LEGENDARY - Must draft at least five legendary tier cards or better + four elite tier cards or better
  • REIGNMAKER - Must draft at least three Reignmaker tier cards or better + six legendary tier cards or better

Scoring Rules

Scoring for Reignmakers football matches our classic DFS scoring system.

View scoring system

Defensive Player Scoring

Defensive players score fantasy points based on the team they play for. Their score will be equal to the fantasy score of their team’s defense. See how DSTs are scored in DraftKings fantasy football here.

There's no limit on the number of defensive players from the same team Reignmakers participants can draft in one lineup.

SuperStar cards

The SuperStar property is created at the beginning of the season and will be updated mid-season as well as before the playoffs to reflect changes in player performance (see details below).

Each contest will have a limit where Reignmakers participants can only draft 1X player per lineup who qualifies as a "SuperStar".

When considering the SuperStar player attribute, not only are rosters limited to having only one SuperStar, but SuperStar digital player cards must also be eligible for the highest rarity tier of the given contest. This means if the contest is at the Legendary tier but allows both Elite and Legendary cards, the SuperStar that must be played needs to be of the Legendary rarity or higher.

SuperStar cards are shown with a STAR icon next to them in the draft experience.

View the latest SuperStar player list.

Learn more about SuperStar cards on the DraftKings Help Center.

Other entry requirements

Card Set Requirements

Player cards are associated with different named sets which impact the visual display of a card and the edition counts. Contests may be created that require you draft player cards from a specific card set.

Specialty Contests

Throughout the season, DraftKings may offer contests that have differing roster constructions or entry requirements. An example of this could be an all Quarterbacks contest.

Player positional eligibility

Player positions will be dependent on the position they're currently playing and not necessarily tied to the position listed on the card.

Example: If a participant’s player’s digital player card is minted at WR and he moves to RB, the player will be draftable as an RB and not a WR.

Card eligibility rules

Not seeing some of your digital player cards? There are a few reasons why you may not see some of your digital player cards for this contest:

  • The player on your card does not have a game in the contest.
  • The player card is being played in another active lineup.
  • The player card rarity or set isn't playable in the contest. Check the contest details to see what digital player cards can be played in the contest.
  • A SuperStar player card can only be played if it matches or exceeds the contest tier rarity.
  • You no longer own the digital player card or the digital player card is no longer your DraftKings collection.

Double Option Cards

How many times can I use each of my cards?

Customers can use each of their owned cards once in a paid contest and once in a free contest simultaneously. For example, if you own a Patrick Mahomes Core card you can enter that card in one free contest lineup and enter it into a lineup for a paid contest even before the free contest has started.

Once a contest has started, the cards you entered into that contest will become available to draft again. If a paid contest starts, then the cards you entered into that contest will be available to draft in other paid contests. Similarly, if a free contest starts then the cards you entered into that free contest will be available to draft again in other free contests.

What counts as a paid contest?

A paid contest is a contest with an entry fee. Entry Fees will be displayed in green under the “Requirements” label in the contest lobby. You can review an example of a contest with a $5 Entry Fee and a Free Entry contest below. Learn more about Paid Contests.

How will I know if I can use a given card again?

Cards that you’ve already used in a free contest or a paid contest will not appear in the draft screen for that type of contest anymore. For example, if I’ve already used my Patrick Mahomes Core card in a free contest but haven’t used it in a paid contest, then that card will no longer appear in any draft screens for free contests and it will appear in draft screens for paid contests. So if you are able to draft a card into your lineup, then you would be able to use it in that contest.

Can I enter my card into two free contests simultaneously if I don’t enter it into a paid contest that week?

No, you can only play a card in one free contest at a time and one paid contest at a time.

When I click “Edit Lineup” or View Contest on a card in my portfolio which entry will I be taken to?

If one of your owned cards is entered into both a free and a paid contest, selecting the “Edit Lineup” and “View Contest” buttons on the My Cards page will take you to your free entry.

All entered contests can be viewed on your My Contests page.

Reserving entries

The reserve entry feature is not available for Reignmakers contests at this time.

Tiebreakers

In the event of a tie for any position in a contest between two (2) or more participants, the edition numbers of the Reignmakers digital player cards used in a participant’s lineup will be used as a tiebreaker. The edition number for each Reignmakers digital player card in a participant’s lineup will be added up, and the participant with the lower sum of edition numbers will be deemed the winner.

Example: In the event two (2) participants finish a contest with the same number of points, and the participants selected the Reignmakers digital player cards with the edition counts in the table below, Participant A will be deemed the winner, as the total edition count of their lineup (126) is less than the total edition count of Participant B’s lineup (166).

In the event a participant’s lineup has open positions, an edition number of ten thousand (10,000) will be used as the edition number for each open position in the participant’s lineup for purposes of tie breakers. Given a tie in a tie breaker, the related prize pool positions for such tied positions will be evenly split among each of the tied participants.

Example:

  • If the prize for first place is two hundred dollars ($200).
  • The prize for second place is one hundred dollars ($100).
  • If two (2) participants tie for first place and have the same sum of edition numbers in their respective lineups, the prizes for first place and second place will be combined and split equally between them.
  • Meaning each of the two (2) tied participants will get one hundred and fifty dollars ($150).
  • Except as otherwise set forth in a contest’s details page, in the event of a tie in the tie breaker and the prize pool for the tied positions involves prizes that be divided between the tied participants (e.g. an digital player card or an autographed bat), the prizes that be divided won't be awarded to any participant. Rather, a dollar amount equal to the approximate retail value of such prizes will be split between the participants tied after the tie breaker.

Contest entry limits

Many Reignmakers contests will allow for multiple entries where participants can submit multiple unique lineups to the same contest. The max number of entries will be displayed on the contest lobby cell and in the contest details information.

Injuries, Cuts, Trades & Retirements

Injured players

Offensive players (QB, RB, WR, TE & K) who don’t play in their game because of injury or any other reason won't earn any fantasy points in Reignmakers contests.

Defensive players will still record points for their team’s defense, even if the player is injured.

Cut players

Players who become free agents won't be included in the player pool for a Reignmakers contest. If a player becomes a free agent after the player pool was already created, they will remain on their original team for that contest, but they will not earn any fantasy points.

Note: Defensive players are included as well. Defensive players who are free agents won't earn fantasy points.

Traded players

The player image shown on a card will remain the same, regardless of what team they play for. If a player is traded, they will continue earning fantasy points on their new team as long as the card is still eligible for the given contest.

Retired players

Players who retire won't be included in the player pool for a Reignmakers contest. If a player retires after the player pool was already created, they will remain on their original team for that contest, but they will not earn any fantasy points.

Defensive players are included as well. Defensive players who have retired won't earn fantasy points.

Additional Notes

  • If a player is released, and no longer attached to a team, they will not receive fantasy points
  • Franchise Score allows customers to obtain points for owning cards of certain rarities or sets. These types of cards for retired or injured players will accumulate the same level of scoring as active players for this purpose. Cards in future years will also have additional use which may or may not include gameplay depending on the player’s status

Late swap rules

Lineups may be edited at any time leading up to games. Each individual Reignmakers player card will become "Locked" for a contest at the scheduled start time of the player's game. A Locked Reignmakers player card can’t be removed from a lineup. Locked lineup spots for all entries are displayed in the contest's Gamecenter, which can be accessed through the My Contests page, and clicking on the applicable contest.

In the event the scheduled start time for a game changes, DraftKings will take measures to ensure the change is reflected in Player Pools. Contingent upon a game starting before the scheduled start time, all Reignmakers player cards associated with that game will become Locked as soon as DraftKings' feed reflects that the game has begun. Any lineup changes that were made after the real-life start time of the game will result in those lineups being disqualified.

Selling cards in lineups

Subject to a participant selling or transferring a Reignmakers player card that's included in their contest lineup prior to such Reignmakers player card becoming Locked (as defined in the Lineup Edits section), such Reignmakers player card will be removed from that participant's lineup and must be replaced with another Reignmakers player card from the Player Pool. In the event a participant doesn't replace the removed player card, except as set forth in next paragraph, the lineup will still be valid; however, the participant will receive zero (0) points for the vacant lineup position. If a participant sells or transfers a Reignmakers player card that's included in their contest lineup after such Reignmakers player card is locked, the Reignmakers player card will remain in the participant's lineup notwithstanding the sale or transfer.

Each “individual Reignmakers player card” (defined as the same player card from the same series, set, and rarity tier with the same serial number) be included in more than one (1) lineup per customer account, per “Football Week” (the Football Week starts on Thursday and ends on Wednesday), irrespective of whether the individual Reignmakers player card was sold or transferred after being included in an entered lineup and then was later reacquired by the same participant.

In the event a participant has included an individual Reignmakers digital player card in any entered lineup, the participant must remove that Individual Reignmakers player card from the entered lineup before the participant can use it in a different lineup during the same Football Week. Should a participant include an individual Reignmakers player card in more than one (1) contest entry in the same Football Week, only the first lineup utilizing the individual Reignmakers player card will be valid; and all other entries utilizing the individual Reignmakers player card will be invalid and ineligible for prizing.

Multi-year card utility

You own the digital Reignmakers player cards collected for as long as you want to hold onto them. They'll also have some future year utility in Reignmakers football after the 2022 football season. While the primary focus of Reignmakers Football rewards will always be on the current season’s collection, utility of past season cards will be provided in several forms.

1. Reignmakers football No-fee Fantasy Games for past season player cards

No-fee Contests will be offered where player cards from prior seasons can be used to compete for and win prizes, with a focus on winning current season player cards and other prizes.

2. Reignmakers football Paid contests for past season player cards

Public Contests will be offered that include an entry fee to play, where player cards from prior seasons can be used to compete for and win a share of the prize pool. Private paid contests will also be available. Coming soon.

3. Franchise Score credit

Prior season player cards will give some level of credit towards a participant’s current season’s Franchise Score, helping them compete for season-long prizes.

4. Missions and Achievements

Periodically we will offer Missions and Achievements that reward holding prior season digital player cards in a participant's collection.

5. Exchange prior year cards for current season benefits

Holders of prior year player cards will be able to elect to surrender, or trade-in, prior year player cards in order to gain certain upgrades or benefits that can help in the current season’s games.

6. Marketplace support

Prior season player cards will continue to be supported in the DraftKings Marketplace for buying and selling.

Additional Notes

  • The Rarity Tier will matter in future seasons’ utility. Guaranteed scarcity cards (ELITE, LEGENDARY, and REIGNMAKER) will have enhanced utility relative to CORE and RARE cards. In general, the higher the rarity tier, the better the future utility will be.
  • The 2022 Field Pass has utility that ends at the conclusion of the 2022-23 football season. Field Pass holders, however, are eligible for a first right to renew that pass in 2023.
