DraftKings is pleased to announce an exciting new contest, the Kansas City Royals Exclusive Fan Experience Contest, exclusively for DraftKings Players. The top two (2) contestants will have the opportunity to win the number of luxury suite tickets as set forth below for winner and guest(s) for the Kansas City Royals home game scheduled to be played on May 16, 2015 (hereinafter, each, a “Prize”).

  • First (1st) Place: Six (6) luxury suite tickets.
  • Second (2nd) Place: Two (2) luxury suite tickets.

Approximate Retail Value of each prize:

  • First (1st) Place : $972
  • Second (2nd) Place : $324

Transportation, lodging and other amenities are not included.

In the case of a tie for the winning spot in the Kansas City Royals Exclusive Fan Experience Contest the winner will be the DraftKings Player with the higher single-player fantasy points result for each drafted player in the lineup. For example, if DraftKings Player A and DraftKings Player B tied in the daily game, and Player A's highest fantasy point scoring player was Max Scherzer with 22 fantasy points, and Player B's highest fantasy point scoring player was Johnny Cueto with 20 fantasy points, then Player A would be judged the winner. In the event that both teams have the same highest fantasy point scoring player, the same process will proceed down to the next highest fantasy point scoring player in each roster. In the event of two identical rosters, the DraftKings Player that submitted the winning lineup first will be deemed the winner.

Conversely, if you create 5 challenges and set the limiter to unlimited, you could end up playing the same user in all five challenges, assuming one user accepted all five challenges.

What Happens If Users Tie In A Survivor Contest?

For each round of the contest, a percentage of entrants will be eliminated based on their scores in that round’s contest and the remaining entrants will continue on to the next round to compete. Each round, a user will have to draft a new set of players to continue to play. In the event a user does not draft his or her team for a given round, he or she will play with an empty team for that day, therefore forfeiting his or her position. Winners will be awarded Entry Tickets to the next round of the contest and the ticket will automatically redeem upon credit.  Note: Our system currently automatically breaks up the cash value of tickets that are tied for and evenly distributes these among all tied contestants. In the event of a tie these credits will be reversed after the completion of the contest before entries to the next day are manually credited.

*Tiebreakers: If one or more entrants tie in any round, one tied entry per user will move on to the next round.  This will then continue on to the second entry per user and so on until all of the spots are filled for the next round.  In the event multiple users tie for the last spot in the next round, the tie will be broken based on the lineup with the highest scoring non-matching/individual player of the two lineups. For example, if Player A and Player B tied, and Player A’s best player was David Ortiz with 30 fantasy points, and Player B’s best player was Matt Kemp with 28 fantasy points, then player A would be judged the winner.  In the event that both teams have the same best player, it will proceed down to the next highest player in each roster.  In the event of two identical rosters, the user who entered the first round of the survivor contest the earliest will move on to the next round.

Leagues Pools Game Rules

What if a League contest doesn't fill?

All contests created within a League must fill in order to run unless you elect for the contest to be resized. If the contest is resizable and does not reach the number of entries you have selected, the contest will be automatically sized to the current number of entries. Only applicable to contests under 20 entries. To learn more click here. If the contest does not fill prior to the contest start time, then all users that entered that contest will be refunded their entry fee.

Can I edit the size or payout structure of a contest once it has been created?

Once a contest has been created, the size and payout structure cannot be edited.

How do I Delete or Leave a league?

Deleting a League: Only the commissioner can delete a League. If you go to the contest lobby of the League and select "settings" the commissioner will see the option to "Delete League".

Leaving a League: When using the iOS app, select the ‘Leagues’ tab and swipe left over the league you’d like to leave. When using the Android app, select the league you would like to leave, tap the ‘hamburger’ logo in the top right corner and select “Member Settings.”

When on a desktop, click on the league you wish to leave, then click on "settings" on the top right-hand corner of the lobby and select "quit league".

What are Leagues?

Leagues create a private Draftkings offering for you and your friends to participate in private and exclusive contests. You can send invitations to existing DK users or invite new users via text, e-mail, or posting on Facebook/Twitter.

To Create a League, click here.

How do I create a recurring contest?

When creating a contest within a League, if the draft group you have selected is eligible to be a recurring contest, you will see the option populated at the bottom of the page.

How do recurring contests work?

If a contest is set to recurring and runs, the system automatically creates the contest for the next week and sends notifications to all league members. Here is when the contests are set to be posted during NFL season:

Thursday contests- 3 days prior (Monday afternoon/night)

Sunday contests- 4 days prior (Wednesday afternoon/night)

Monday contests- 2 days prior (Saturday afternoon/night)

If the contest does not run two consecutive times, the contest is cancelled. The commissioner can create a new contest within the League and resend the invitations.

Please note that Entry fees are only collected on individual entries when submitted, not in advance.

Can this be used to organize a season long league?

We do not offer season-long leagues in the traditional sense. However, it’s easy to use DraftKings to play your friends all season long. Simply create a League, invite your friends, and challenge them to contests within the league and follow along with the standings in your league leaderboard. You can even create a recurring contest so all you have to do each week is draft your team.

How is this different from a traditional season-long league?

Leagues are a great way to play our weekly contests with friends all season long. You draft a new team every day, so there’s no need to worry about bye weeks or injured players. It’s easy to take a week off, too, since we only collect entry fees when you enter a contest, and winners are paid out as soon as the contest ends, so there’s no need to wait until the end of the season to cash out! Create a league, invite some friends, and start playing today!

What duties and responsibilities does the commissioner have? What restrictions are there on non-commissioners?

The commissioner can remove league members and rename the league. Any member of the league can create and play contests or invite new members.

Who Determines a Correct Pick? (Pools)

Subject to the applicable Pools Game Conditions, a correct Pick will be determined by DraftKings with reference to the DraftKings house rules that are applicable to the Settlement of the Pick in question as determined by DraftKings. Picks are settled on the official result published by the governing body or as otherwise verified by DraftKings. After Settlement of a Pool and corresponding payment of the Prize Pool when applicable, any subsequent corrections or amendments by the governing body to the result will not be applicable. Where DraftKings determines that an error was made, including on the Pool Game Conditions, the Pool Card including errors in listings of Events or Picks, or in the settlement of a Pool, then DraftKings reserves the right to: correct such error and settle, or Resettle, the Pool with the error corrected; or to settle or Resettle the Pool with all Picks for Events DraftKings deems affected by the error as a correct Pick.

Event Postponement, Cancellation, or Voided Events? (Pools)

If DraftKings determines an Event has been cancelled or postponed or where DraftKings would otherwise have the right to treat an Event as void, DraftKings reserves the right to settle the Pool with all Picks for such cancelled or postponed Events settled as a correct Pick or alternatively to void all tickets on that Pool. DraftKings may continue to offer Picks including when applicable, Combo Play Picks, on such Events even if it has become aware of the cancellation, postponement or voiding of the Event, while reserving its rights to settle the Pool with all such Picks as correct or alternatively voiding all tickets on that Pool. Where there is evidence or suspicion of illegal or fraudulent activity, or of rigging or fixing of an Event within a Pool, DraftKings may declare Picks or Tickets on such Events or Pools void in accordance addition to its rights set out in the Rules dealing with fraud or suspicious activity, event rigging or fixing.

For clarity, if the start time for an Event within a Pool is changed by the official governing body within the same calendar day as the previous listed start time, either prior to or after the Pool Closing Time, submitted Cards will remain valid.
